In 2017 I was pulled out of the comfort of my home and into the mad frenzy of a three-day music event by my ex-boss at India Today, Mala Sekhri, who runs Musiconcepts now. She wanted to flag off the inaugural event of her company, the first edition of the annual India Music Summit, in 10 days. In another city. With 100 artistes. With a 7-member team.
Right. Let’s do this, I thought, and dived in.
I had never worked on an event before and I went in wide eyed and absolutely unsure that we can pull it off and came out of the other side having learnt everything there is to learn about managing and executing an event, down to egos and nerves.
Covid disrupted things in 2020 but we organized three beautiful, satisfying, soulful editions of the music summit before that in 2017, 18 and 19 and I am very proud and happy to have been an intrinsic part of it. Apart from all the scripting and floating content pieces (event booklet, session names etc), I also helped putting together and execute the show flow and, when there was any time to breathe, socialized with all the musicians whom we hosted for three days in Jaipur. It’s madness of the best kind.
